    Volunteer participation is vital to the Mesa community!

     Volunteer Opportunties at Mesa

    Discover great ways to volunteer at Mesa, no matter how much time you can spare!  Fundraising, school spirit events, extracurricular programs, and hospitality activities enhance the quality of our school.  


    • Mesa Telephone/Email Directory:  Assist with publishing and distribution of the Mesa Telephone/Email Directory
    • Mesa Elementary T-shirts:  Assist with distributing spirit wear purchases
    • School Picture Day:  Help children get ready for their photos
    • Cell Phone Recycle:  The Wireless Alliance picks up electronics at school to recycle
    • Community Fundraisers:  These fun evening or weekend events (restaurant nights, CU games) raise money for teachers to directly use in their classrooms
    • KidzArt:  A variety of products sold to benefit the Mesa Art program


    School Spirit Events

    • Room Parents:  Organize two classroom parties (Halloween and Valentine’s Day), assist with distributing PTO information, and organize a booth at the all-school Fall Fest
    • International Walk-to-School Day:  Help distribute student awards and staff a refreshment booth
    • Yearbook Committee:  Help design and publish the Mesa Yearbook
    • Fall Fest:  Provide help at the classroom booths (set-up, running a booth, or clean-up)


    Hospitality Activities

    • Vision and Hearing Screening:  Assist students as they receive vision and hearing tests or provide support for district personnel (snacks, drinks)
    • Open Enrollment Tours (2-3 hours per tour in November, December, or January):  Provide tours for any parents interested in enrolling their students at Mesa Elementary
    • Bakers (as-needed basis):  Provide treats for school events
    • Gardeners:  Help keep the Mesa garden beautiful
    • Copy Cats:  Trained volunteers use the school copiers to assist teachers in making copies


    Extracurricular Programs

    • Math Olympiad:  This national program challenges students' math skills and is open to 4th and 5th graders
    • Junior Great Books:  This guided reading program is offered to students in grades 2-5 with small group discussions of classical fiction
    • Destination Imagination:  Volunteers coach groups of 5-7 students to help them plan and execute their programs




    All volunteers in BVSD are required to complete:

    1. The BVSD Volunteer Application
    2. A valid background check (Level 2)
