Visual Arts
Mesa Elementary's Art Program encourages creative expression, introduces many different art techniques and mediums, develops lifelong artistic skills, and promotes personal confidence in our students!
My name is Taylor Bale Kuczynski, and I am an artist and an art teacher! As an artist, I know how important the creative process has been for me developmentally. I have a deep respect for the artistic process and for individual expression. Mesa Elementary students have the awesome opportunity to create with clay, paper-maché, oil pastels, tempera paint, chalk, wood, plaster, elements from nature, foil, wax, watercolor, acrylic paint, batik, wire, yarn, fabric, ink, etc.
I believe that art and creativity can support academic development, strengthen emotional development, and enhance one's sense of self-efficacy. Art can provide new avenues of thought and offers a diversified approach to learning. I create interesting art lessons that explore art techniques, introduce art history, establish art vocabulary, encourage creative expression, enhance creative thought, and support academic achievement and confidence.
Art and the artistic process fuel imagination, which is critical to all aspects of learning and creativity. In this sense, art is therefore not a luxury, but an absolute necessity for future problem solvers and well-rounded beings!
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” ~Albert Einstein
